It's good to see another gaming site publishing a review on Yakuza: Black Panther! It's a fantastic franchise and I'm glad to hear that you guys like it as well. As for the game being an amazing version of the game, I'm in agreement with you 100%.
The localization is so impressive in so many areas that it's hard to pinpoint what I liked the most. I think that one of the biggest achievements of the localization team is the fact that they managed to get an authentic tone to the Japanese audio. I really do hear a lot of that in the game. I think that accuracy has been a theme in the localization of the entire series. In terms of the English voice acting, it really stands out as some of the best voice acting work I've seen in a console game. Hakuun is a good example. I know that many people who know Japanese were surprised to hear him speak English.
What about the localization? I've been privy to a few modifications before as I was an advisor to the localization team, so I knew what the final results would be. I can tell you that I was pleasantly surprised. It really is the best possible translation of the game, to the point that I will be buying the retail version so I'll have a nicer translation. But the quality of the text that I've seen is just... something else. The translation you see isn't what I helped with as I helped with the English script and voice acting of the mobile games. I didn't work on the PSP version of the game.
